It's Yuka! Somehow, going to Comic-con without dressing up gave me this sudden burst of inspiration and non-laziness. It's kind of scary... So a few days ago, I ended up bringing out my sewing machine and sewing box and started and finished a mock top for one of our next cosplays.
We're starting up with a new line-up of costumes this time around. But there's this one that (I'm ashamed to say) I've been putting off for almost a year-and-a-half; it's started but no where near complete. Hopefully I'll be able to wear it next con.

The Moggle Cell Strap Story.
Hey Everyone,
This is Aki, and I"m here to tell a little story about why Square Enix makes me a happily obsessive fangirl.
1. I went to get the two Mini Figure series sets that are out at the moment, and the guys from the back informed everyone there were only two Moogle Cell Phone Straps left. Knowing that my mom obsesses over Moogles and think they're the most adorable thing on the planet, I told the cashier that I wanted one.
2. A guy directly behind me tells the cashier he wants the other one, so no big deal, the last straps are sold, right?
3. I go from the Squenix booth on the Dealer's Showroom Floor to where my parents are in their wheelchairs on the second floor. We collapse on the floor next to my mom who says she'll watch our stuff because I wanted to go get something from Jlist.
4. We go back downstairs to Jlist's booth, and the specific grab bag I wanted was out for the day. I didn't mind, but then Yuka gets my attention and says that my mom just called saying that I didn't get the cell phone strap in my bag. Oops, dumb Aki for not checking first.
5. We go back upstairs to get the bag from my mom and the receipt which was way too small in my opinion, but never mind that. SO, we take the bag BACK to Squenix and tell them that they didn't put it in the bag.
6. As it turned out, the guy totally remembered me and looked at me like I just shot his dog. @_@ He apologized left and right and said that they sold the last one that SHOULD have been mine to someone else; it was sitting on a table in the back all alone in the world.
7. I was sad, but I asked if I could get another cell phone strap that was the same price, and it turned out that they still had Chocobo straps. He let me take one of those and kept apologizing; I thought it was cute. xD
8. I gave the Chocobo to mom and she thought it was totally adorable; Aki's "Buy a Cell Phone Strap for Mom": COMPLETE! >:D

Comic-Con 2009
Wow. Just.....wow.
First of all I have to make a comment to all the cosplayers:
I cannot stress this enough, but if you're going to wear a wig please USE A WIG CAP. I saw so many wigs without wig caps. The costumes themselves were (sometimes) beautiful, but were ruined by the person's own hair sticking out from underneath. When you order a wig, the store will have wig caps available, and if not then why are you ordering from them? If you can't spend the extra $2 to add to your wig order, then make one from an old pair of pantyhose or nylons I'm sure you or your mother/sister have. Trust me, it makes a WORLD of a difference.... -takes a deep breath-
On to the con, shall we? xD
Day 1: Since I didn't get the chance to go to preview night (due to me not having a 4-day pass/ a dance show that night), I'm sure either Miki or Aki will be able to fill you in on that. :] The morning of, Aki and I woke up around 6:30 and left by 7 hoping it would give us enough time to find parking. Success, but only slight. After the hour-long wait for badge pick-up, I finally got to wander around. Where else do we go first than to the Squenix booth?
These guys really deserve home-made cookies and brownies. They work hard, are the most respectful major dealers there, and are just plain cool. After buying a couple figures each, we delved into the extremely busy exhibit hall. Nothing much to see except a few good indie booths, clothing, and J-List. I'm not sure what else we did Thursday night, so I'll update when I start remembering......

Gearing Up!
Once again, this is Yuka reporting with an update!
As all of us know, well at least the locals in San Diego and a selecct few others, a very special -coughcough- convention is starting to roll our way. O:
Summer is coming soon, and we all know what that means:
- the end of the school year
- a loooooong vacation
- and.....
COMIC-CON!
Or you can call it by its proper name, San Diego Comic-Con International. But we find it too long. x3
I hope everyone's gotten their passes! Or else you'll have to pay for every single day individually which will cost you $110 because you were stupid and decided to wait like me. xD
The dates are set on July 23 - 26, with preview night on Wednesday the 22nd. :] So if you haven't already, start planning and sewing your costumes, and we'll see you at the San Diego Convention Center downtown!

ALA Day 2
Okie dokie! Yuka here updating for Day 2 of Anime Los Angeles 2009!
Sorry that we didn't get to this sooner, but we were dead tired afterward.
Starting day 2, as soon as we walked out of the elevator, there were of course tons more people in the lobby and the main floor. More panels, costumes, concerts, etc. First, I'd like to get a couple complaints out of the way. x.x
The one problem with the hotel that we started to notice: the bottom 2 floors, including the main floor, had absolutely no cell phone service. Extremely inconvenient. Especially because the three of us were separated half the time.
Another problem that I noticed: even though I've noticed that the hygiene problems at cons has gone down ever so slightly, A LOT of people chose to wear the same costume/cosplay they wore the day before, and as much as I don't want to say this, a couple of those people were masquerade participants. Unless you've made 3 of the same costume, please don't wear the same thing every day. ._.
Enough ranting about that... on to the panel, and then the...

Panel:
The one panel that Aki, Miki, and I did go to was about the translation from Japanese to English when dubbing anime/manga/music. The panelists: A Japanese teacher from a local college, a woman who majored in Japanese literature, a man who has connections in the dubbing industry, and a long-time anime fan. Not the biggest source of credibility, but I guess this could go either way. I don't know for now.
They did stay on topic (and thankfully did not stray onto the oh-so-famous subs vs. dubs). Everyone was respectful, there were laughs, known and unknown anime, visual & audio aides, explained accurately and clearly for those who weren't familiar with the subjects they were talking about. Overall, Aki says this panel gets an A-, because an actual translator would have been great! :D
Masquerade:
We all like to try and be the first ones in line for the masquerade, right? Right. So Miki, Aki, and I go to sit in the (at the time very short) masquerade line at around 3:30 or 4, since seating was at 6 and it began at 7. They moved our group of about maybe 8 or 9 people about 4 times in the span of about an hour or so. Finally they had us in the right spot, gave us 'Sorry' ribbons, and let us in the front of the regular masquerade line. But, the crew was having techical difficulties and instead let us in at around 8:30-ish.
The toastmaster Tadao Tomomatsu was as funny as ever. :] I think ALA has found their MC match.
The actual masquerade: There were some costumes that I didn't expect to be show. Most of this year's entries surpassed my expectations. Tons of brownie points go out to the participants! :]
But because of the 2 1/2 hour technical difficulties and moving the line so many times, this year's masquerade, we give a ............-drumroll please- *crash!* B+
I'll be uploading pictures very soon! Even though there's not that many this year. D:
I suppose that's it for day 2 of ALA 2009!

Day 1 Review (4:24 PM)
Well, the Green Room has really nice food for the staff and people involved directly with the con. Thanks to our magical chopping skills.... DAMN YOU AND YOUR CHEESE KNIFE, Yuka!

Anyway, to the seriousness! (Miki: O_o Seriousness? Aki?)
Day 1 is pretty mellow, as most first days of cons tend to be. We didn't have any problems checking in at this Mariott, which is MUCH more than we can say about LAST year's Mariott.
Hotel Overall Ranking: A-
We only had minimal problems with the hotel (internet and one of the keys.). Checking into the hotel was easy and dandy. The con is ALL on one floor, which was AMAZING. :D
To the con con stuff:
Miki's Complaint: WTF. ONE anime room? O_o THIS IS AN ANIME CON. HALF of the anime is dubbed. They show less than Conjecture does! (Which, by the way is a nice SCI-FI/Fantasy con that happens in San Diego once a year, look forward to us in 2010!)
Aki's Complaint: I have to agree. And, the panels are great, but all of it is so mainstream... I mean... there's TWO costuming panels that I saw. The rest are like, "Voice Acting 101, What is ALA?" I mean, those are REALLY nice, but it would be cool to have a yaoi panel... or a MANGA panel O_o
Miki's 2nd Complaint: They're giving away Twilight Posters.
Aki: -sarcastically- LET'S GO TO TWICON!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! x3
Yuka's Complaint: That we give this entry a PROPER layout so people don't hate us.
Aki: People shouldn't hate us for our opinions... that's just rude. Dx And plus, Aki just doesn't DO proper layouts. >.>
Miki: Let's go check out Dealer's Room.

Con Whores: Who are we?
So... this is Kakkoi Gakuen's Official Blog! It's not like that actually matters. xD
This is from the four of us (even though our FOURTH MEMBER should be here too. >.>):
Aki: The oldest and craziest, Leader-sama of Kakkoi Gakuen! (She even came up with the name... while doing lots of drugs, and is mentally the youngest. :D WOOOOO!!!!) She is the spastic weirdo who always gets the group into trouble. :D You need to READ those Masquerade slips before signing them, Aki! :D Leader-sama, OUT!
Miki: The second to youngest, known the most to keep the rest of us in line during costume time @_@ She keeps Aki's ass in gear and makes sure Leader-sama doesn't pull her Haruhism out of her ass. The most responsible out of the group, she makes sure we don't get over charged for internet at the LAX Marriot. ALSO the only one that gives a shit about Google Earth. (Aki: WTF. That's what Google Maps is for. Dx) Mi-chan, OUT! :D
Yuka: Moe. (No, really. She's fucking hott. :D) THIS little girl is the second oldest, but she is the most adorable. Aki and Miki aspire to kidnap her and sell pictures of her at Akihabara to pay for Rewrite. No, seriously. We wish we could do that. And she IS that hot. End of commentary. (Miki: She's a pineapple. That's why it's all her fault.) Yu-chan, Bai! :S
Akio: Is not present at the current time. IS SHE EVER?! (Miki: It's cuz she goes to that fancy rich school.) -sighs- This little spaz case is the youngest of the group and never seems to show up. One day we shall extract her from her disease laced coma of myspace. Akio.... WHERE ART THOU!? (Aki: No, seriously. WTF man? XD)
